Hi,

I have a question on the Gtube.

Sarp had the operation 2 months before and now there is a kind of baloon around the place where G Tube is set.It has swollen and the color is red. This shows the recovery of tissue but it became bigger and bigger and and there is a baloon around the place of Gtube which we can not stop. Doctor recommended silver nitrate to stop the growing of this tissue. Did you have a similar case after the post-op for G Tube. Silver nitrate is burning the tissue and slows up that complication. Do you have any other idea to stop it?

Thanks to everyone,

Bihter

Hi Bihter,

Nicholas has always had issues with his gtube site.  We used Calmoseptine Ointment around the site ans covered it with a small piece of Lyofoam.  It was recommended by a Stoma Nurse.  I'm not sure where your located, but check with your local hospital to see if they have one that will see Sarp.

Good luck.

paul always had problems as well they called it a granuloma it was red extra skin it looked like he use to go every week to the peditrian and get it silver nitrate off it is a quetip with silver on the tip and roll it over the site and it turns grey and within a couple days it would fall off or go down to normal paul usually got them from shirts and jackets brushing up against the site and irritating it but paul has been doing very well with his site no granulomas for over a couple months but now he found his tubes and tryes to push his hands across them like he is trying to push them off his tummy it is pretty cute the way he does it and then he laughs when he cant get them to get off

Yesssss Heidi,
We call it as granulation tissue. There are some ways to stop it other than silver nitrate. I was recommended to buy ochaliptus oil and I will try it.
And in some forums on GTube I read that if the silver nitrate does not work, they recommend to use some kind of oitment or soaps which I could not find them in Turkey. The name of the soap dressing is Hyrosorb and ointment is Calmoseptine.

So I wanna ask a favor to you and other mums to let me know where to buy those makers in US. In pharmacy or supermarket?  I will get in touch with a friend in US and ask him to send those products to me.

Brenda,
I think you used Calmoseptine Ointment around the site and cover it with a small piece of Lyofoam. I can not understand what Lyofoam is. Can you explain what it is.

Thanks again.
Bihter,

Bihter

Lyofoam is a sponge pad.  I bought mine from a local pharmacy.  I'll find some places on line that sell these products and post them for you.
